Yao Ming Scores 30 Points To Win Against New York Knicks

Yao Ming carried the Rockets without Tracy McGrady through the first three quarters of the basketball against New York Knicks and ended up with 30 points and eight rebounds. Houston Rockets Rookie Aaron Brooks had a huge game night too. “He is an amazing player,” Yao said. “Everyone knows he has very quick speed. He has good skills and very strong confidence. I don’t know where his confidence comes from, but everyone knew that one day, he would play like today. You didn’t know which day, but one day.”

Brooks canned a three-pointer and set up Yao for a short jumper that pushed Houston’s lead back to double digits. Following a steal by Bonzi Wells, Brooks tracked down a loose ball and took it to the other end for a score that boosted Houston to an 86-74 advantage.

Yao Ming swatted shots by Curry and Randolph in the final minutes as the Rockets (17-17) — playing without Tracy McGrady — held off a late Knicks rally. The Knicks again hurt themselves with unforced turnovers, with Randolph and Nate Robinson throwing passes away late in the fourth quarter. Randolph had 6 of the Knicks’ 19 turnovers.
